„urban space is a relation
between density and openness. To create new green
areas by constructing new infrastructure is
ecological, economical and social
progress.“
The idea of Tokyo Music Dome is to
maximise the inner volumetric of the building by
minimizing its physical outlook and
enlarging the existing park green as a public
open green area, including the green grass
covered hill (as an public open air stage)
containing the Music Dome. Meiji street is a main street in the heart of
Tokyo, Takeshita street a very narrow pedestrian
shopping street, very frequently visited by
especially young people. The construction site of
the Tokyo Music Hall is part of the city block in
the area of the bordering Togo Shrine with its
green public park. Beside the Togo Shrine and its
park is also a marriage hall, the Harajukugaien
Junior High School (with park and pool), the Ward
Chūō Library, and a police
station.
All together the green area of the block will
become an even more attracting field in the
density of Tokyo centre. Tokyo Music Dome will
become an iconic building by creating a situation
without showing classical elements like
facades.
